Amphibious Fish Care Sheets

There are several species of amphibious fish in existence today. Simply put, these are fish which have the ability to move across land and survive for extended periods of time out of water, similar to amphibians. Amphibious fish use a number of techniques to move around on land, including lateral undulation, tripod-like walking using their fins and jumping. These methods usually incorporate a mixture of pelvic, pectoral and tail fin movement. Amphibious fish have also adapted the ability to breathe air, this can be achieved through either modified gills or by breathing through their skin. Some amphibious fish also have eyes which are adapted to seeing clearly through air despite the density differences of air and water.

Check out our amphibious fish caresheets below for more informtion on individual species.
