Frogs

Frogs are what most people will usually think of when you first begin talking about pet amphibians. Not only are they the most popular type of amphibian in the pet trade today, but they also have the largest number of different species available to buy. This makes exotic pet frogs one of the most exciting and diverse type of exotic pet you can keep in captivity.

As mentioned previously, frogs are a type of amphibian and fall under the order of Anura, meaning tail-less. Frogs are easily distinguishable from other types of pet amphibian and are characterised by long hind legs (used for jumping), a short, sturdy body, webbed toes (to aid swimming), protruding eyes and no tail. All frogs lay their eggs (spawn) in clumps in water which will quickly grown and develop into tadpoles, before transforming into fully grown adults. Frogs can be found in a number of different habitats across the world, ranging from tropic to subarctic regions, however most are found in the tropical rainforests.
