Big Snake: Yellow Rat Snake Crossing Road in Thailand, comes for me!

Written by scottology on February 15, 2010 – 11:17 pm -

A big snake – copperhead racer – similar to the western yellow rat snake at about 2 meters long, in Thailand crossing the highway. It comes for me at the end of the video! Great snake. These are aggressive and yet non poisonous. They eat mice, rats, lizards, birds.

I’m not convinced he’s attack you. He’s a ratsnake, they don’t generally harm humans. For a start, they’re constrictors not invenomators!
I don’t think you had anything to worry about really.

Nice footage, I love these snakes. Where abouts were you in Thailand?

Yeah, I want to – believe me – but, out of respect… you know?

These snakes can launch themselves about 2 meters toward their victim (me) if striking. I wanted to give him some space… also – we’re in the middle of a highway where Thai drivers are going 160+ km/h so I didn’t want to keep him out there on the street too long! Awesome snake. Weird stuff goes through my mind as he’s coming straight for me ready to strike… as you can see I can’t keep him in the photo anymore!

Funny, normally you eat all you encounter.

Hahaha I didn’t see you imitate Steve Irwin

Cobras will also rarely advance on someone.

They do have a serious attitude… did you see the baby one I found on the road? It was psychotic. However, the monocled cobras strike about as much as these. Eventually these roll on their back and play dead if they get tired and realize you’re not going away… Cobras? Dont.

Sometimes they are hard to avoid when I drive car as they accellerate or stop moving

I love how they’re not venomous, but they have a much worse attitude than cobras or kraits.
