Actually that’s incorrect.

Leopard geckos require 10 gallon a piece to live happily . So, you were right in thinking 4 females can go into a 40gallon breeder. They can stay in here from hatchling to adult.

Although if your breeding you can keep a group of 1 male and 4 females in this tank. But only if your breeding. The difference is the amount of stress the geckos get when their not breeding and are housed a big group.

depending on how young the geckos are I would say yes you could use a 40 gallon. However, when they begin to grow more i would suggest watching them to see if they are cramped and how they are interacting with one another.

each lizard needs 5 gallons of space. So 40/5= 8 lizards could happily.
