There are lots of good foods. Collard greens, kale, cucumber, apple, romaine lettuce. I use cocoa fiber bedding with some oak leaves and sticks. You can also mix in aspen shavings and peat moss. The female lays eggs only when fertilized and the eggs will be in the poo pellets. Be sure to bury some food in the ground, because the babies will not come to the surface for awhile after they hatch.

The larger brown/tan mites only live on invertibrates and shouldn’t spread to your reptiles. If there were parasitic mites (small white ones that don’t move) there is a possibility they could spread.

Do you know how to sex millipedes? I have no clue what my millipede is o_O She is nice though love her to death <3

Only if you threaten the millipede or irritate her. They do secrete hydrogen cyanide, same chemical used to gas Jews. I don’t know how much of this stuff they excrete but I believe you should just show the millipede love and it won’t do anything dangerous.

Hey dude, pretty specimen you have there.

Just wondering, where do you get that moss-like stuff that you have?
Thanks, if you can tell me.

They are not venomous like centipedes, but many millipedes have a defence secretion to use against predators which can be toxic. It is not harmful to humans though. At worst it could irritate your skin or turn it purple for a short time. They rarely use it unless they are being hurt or very scared.

are these poisonous or only the centipede is poisonous? do these harm ppl? im just curious b/c idk the answer

  16. By RavTokomi on Jan 12, 2010 | Reply

They are mites, and they live on the millipede and help keep it clean and free of other pests. As long as they are the big and fast moving kind they are OK. Small, stationary mites can be bad. If there are too many you can try brushing them off with a q-tip.

no centipedes- venomous (some quite dangerous) and they eat insects and small animals like baby rats and mice. millipedes- eat fruits, fungi etc. cute n’ cudly.
