The fire would also kill the vegetation and some animals that eat locusts (e.g. birds) would lose part of their food supply and decrease the population and if there’s less birds there’s less things above them in the food chain and all havoc breaks loose.

yeah they do eat them but if they ate them in that number to even make a scratch on there population you need every african every minute of the day eating them..
