    Hey there!

I totally feel you- I wouldn’t want scorpions in my house either. Here are a couple sources I found for you…

Scorpions come into homes "seeking comfortable temps and WATER. They are HIGHLY attracted to water which is why peaple often find them in their sinks. Getting rid of them takes time, even with a professional exterminating service. They can live as long as seven years and are very hardy! Dusting your attic with diatomatious earth helps. Sealing all the cracks in your house, including those around light fixtures, light switches, baseboards, etc. also helps. Pay special attention to recessed lights and ceiling fans. Check under the toe-jams and in the back of the cabinets in your kitchen and bathrooms and fill in any holes."

Scorpions are difficult to control with insecticides alone. Therefore, the first control strategy is to modify the area surrounding a house.

    * Remove all trash, logs, boards, stones, bricks and other objects from around the home.
    * Keep grass closely mowed near the home. Prune bushes and overhanging tree branches away from the house. Tree branches can provide a path to the roof for scorpions.
    * Store garbage containers in a frame that allows them to rest above ground level.
    * Never bring firewood inside the house unless it is placed directly on the fire.
    * Install weather-stripping around loose fitting doors and windows.
    * Plug weep holes in brick veneer homes with steel wool, pieces of nylon scouring pad or small squares of screen wire.
    * Caulk around roof eaves, pipes and any other cracks into the home.
    * Keep window screens in good repair. Make sure they fit tightly in the window frame.

    Good Luck!

Tell them you’re not a fan of German rock & roll and they’ll move on.

chickens roaming the premises sure helps keep the scorpions and centipede population down on my property.
i wont keep noisy roosters but hens are very useful exterminators and quiet

If there is nowhere to hide and nothing to eat, scorpions will move on. There will be the occassional lost traveler no matter what you do. Cats work pretty well. I heard goats work well too, but cant confirm that. Lizards, of course.

Scorpions arrive for food. If you get rid of the food then they go away. Exterminator service works on this principle. They kill crickets,ants..etc in the house which will get rid of scorpions. Tell your frinds..to fill up bathtubs and sinks with water and flush them on a regular basis. Scorpions tend to come up the drainage system at night. Also they make have to put up screens on A/C ducts as well if above method does not get rid of them.
First, I don’t want to sound mean to the other posters but… scorpions do not have eggs, they give live-birth to as many as 32 young and mom carries them on her back for a week or two afterwards till they are big enough to get along on their own. And they don’t come up drains or come in your house looking for food. They have plenty of food outside. They are coming in seeking comfortable temps and WATER. They are HIGHLY attracted to water which is why peaple often find them in their sinks. Filling your sinks at night will probably only attract more. Not that I know, they are like bugs. They tunnel and hang around in dens. They are good to eat however and if you ever get over your fear of them ask and I’ll give you the recipe for a great stew.

Scorpions like areas with lots of other bugs. If you have chickens on your property, you will decrease the scorpions by a lot! The chickens will eat the scorpions’ food and the scorpions if found. Also there is a sand like dust scorpion repellant that you can buy and spread around your house’s outer perimiter. Scorpions hate this stuff cause it destroys their precious exoskeleton and can cause them to hemorage and die.

Chickens keep the scorpions off the property, and the dust keeps them out of your house. Enjoy your scorpion free home. ^_^

I feel your pain. I can put up with just about anything, but a scorpion is the one creature that just creeps me out completely. In your situation, I’d be calling a pest control company, no question. The bigger question, though, is do you want a property that has so many scorpions on it that you have to call a pest control guy monthly?

I’d talk with a DIFFERENT pest control service and see if there is something more permanant than doing this once a month. If it’s not possible, then you will have to be the one to decide whether you can deal with them through extermination.

    Good luck!

spray every month until the scorpion population is reduced. keep brush cleared up, avoid standing water puddles, keep rocks and other debris from areas close to the house, landscape rock gives them a place to hide. if you have a storage shed, make sure to spray it on a regular basis. the scorpions would rather be in there because the bug population is higher in undisturbed areas.

    good luck
