Why is it illegal to have pet tarantulas in Toronto?

I remember reading somewhere that it’s illegal to have pet tarantulas in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. But why?

    it might be, im not shure why it would be, its just a spider that you could easily squash.
    i have a pet trantula named hank and he is real nice.
